Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Statement Regarding Assistance at North Valleys High School  

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist Washoe County School Police at North Valleys High School after deputies were advised through dispatch that the Washoe County School Police was responding to a report of multiple subjects with a weapon.

Deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the North Valleys High School campus and conducted a search of the campus to identify any potential or active threat. Washoe County Sheriff’s Office resources utilized during the response included teams of deputies, a K9 team conducting an article search for a possible weapon, and a drone providing aerial support during the search of the campus.

After determining the scene was secure and safe for students, staff, and the community, deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office cleared the call as an agency assist.

No arrests were made by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office related to our assistance in this call.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office stands ready to assist our regional law enforcement partners in protecting our children, schools, and community.

The Washoe County School Police is the lead investigating agency related to this incident. Any additional information or questions regarding the investigation should be directed to their agency.
