Washoe County District Attorney's Office

Sexual Predator Sentenced to Life in Prison

Defendant Eligible for Parole After 141 Years

Apr 30, 2026

The man who was convicted of seven counts of sexually assaulting children, has been sentenced to life in prison, with parole eligibility after 141 years.

Robert Vasquez was given the maximum sentence by the Honorable Egan Walker, with consecutive sentences for each count: three counts of Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14, two counts Lewdness with a Child Under 14, one count Attempted Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14, and one count Attempted Lewdness on a Child Under 14.

“These sentences ensure that Robert Vasquez will never again have the opportunity to harm a child,” said District Attorney Chris Hicks. “The courage shown by these victims in coming forward cannot be overstated. Their voices were heard, and justice has been delivered.”

The victim’s mother and Chief Deputy District Attorney Peg Samples urged the court to impose the maximum sentence, citing the devastation Vasquez caused to the victims and their family and the need to ensure that Vasquez could never harm another child.

The Reno Police Department does believe there are additional victims in this case and are asking anyone with information to please call the non-emergency line at 775-334-COPS.
