NNPH Celebrates March as National Nutrition Month

Mar 4, 2026

March 4, 2026. Reno/Sparks, Nev. – Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) is proud to celebrate National Nutrition Month, an annual campaign established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, to encourage individuals and families to make informed food choices and build healthy eating and physical activity habits that last a lifetime.

This year’s theme, “Discover the Power of Nutrition,” highlights the important role that food and beverage choices play in supporting individual and community well-being. The foods we choose each day can help us grow, heal, and thrive.

To help residents get the most out of nutritious eating, NNPH encourages the community to:

  1. Choose foods from all food groups to support balanced nutrition.
  2. Incorporate variety within each food group to obtain a wide range of essential nutrients.
  1. Avoid fad diets that promote unnecessary restrictions or quick fixes. While these diets often promise rapid results, they rarely support sustainable habits and may lead to nutrient deficiencies.
