A jury has convicted three men on all charges after they chased a woman down in her car and shot at her. Jeremiah Tate (dob 8/27/97), Jordan Martinez (3/16/93), and Jarred Martinez (dob 4/23/96) were all found guilty of two counts Assault with a Deadly Weapon, two counts Discharging at a Car, two counts Discharging from a Car, and Tate was also convicted of Felony in Possession.
Sparks Police initially responded to the area of Winery Drive and Sparks Blvd. on November 28, 2022, after report of a possible road rage incident. The 43-year-old victim had called police after Tate and the Martinez brothers had begun chasing her car and shooting at her twice while she was still on the phone with the police. Dispatch eventually tracked the victim as she was chased by the defendants. The group ended up at a motel near a truck stop on Greg Street and Sparks Blvd, where the victim ran inside, with Tate following. Police arrived moments later, leading to Tate and Jordan Martinez to try and run away. Both were arrested shortly after. Jarred had driven away from the scene and was picked up by police the following day. During the investigation, the defendants claimed they had chased the victim because they believed she had stolen Tate’s car, despite it being a different make and model.
During trial, prosecutors showed the jury the gun officers recovered near the escape route Tate and Jordon Martinez took. Tate’s DNA was located on the gun’s magazine, and it was missing two bullets, indicating it was in fact the firearm that was used. Sentencing is set for January 8, 2026 before the Honorable Lynne Jones.
