UPDATE – October 27, 2025:
On October 24, 2025, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible deceased individual located in the hills near the Jumbo Grade Gravel Pit. Deputies responded to the area and, with the assistance of Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue members utilizing off-road vehicles, located a deceased individual.
The individual was later identified by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Ryan Carter Laxague. Following an on-scene investigation by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives, the death is not being investigated as suspicious. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded and is conducting its formal death investigation.

The outpouring of support from community members and organizations throughout the search demonstrated the remarkable strength, compassion, and unity that define our community, especially during times of loss,” said Sheriff Darin Balaam.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate 34-year-old Ryan Carter Laxague. Ryan is a white male adult, approximately 5 foot, 7 inches tall, weighing 225 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes, and a U.S. Marine Corps tattoo on his chest. Ryan was last seen in the late evening of Monday, September 1, 2025. His personal vehicle, a white Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup truck, was found in the area of Jumbo Grade Hills, Washoe Valley on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
It is uncharacteristic for Ryan to be gone for this extended period of time and may be in personal crisis.
