Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Two in Stolen Vehicle and Theft Investigation

On July 16, 2025, Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Northern Nevada Intelligence Center, in coordination with Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputies and the Reno Police Department, conducted an investigation involving a stolen Toyota Tacoma believed to be connected to additional regional criminal activity.

Through a coordinated operation, detectives found two individuals, Riley Bawcom and Ashley Decarie, in possession of the stolen vehicle.  During the operation, detectives also observed Bawcom enter and exit the Cabela’s retail store, where it was later determined that he had stolen approximately $600 worth of ammunition.

Riley Bawcom was taken into custody and booked on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
  • Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
  • Display of Bogus Plates
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Parole Violation Warrant

Bawcom is currently on probation for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Ashley Decarie was also taken into custody and booked on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Petit Larceny
