On July 9, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle head-on collision at the intersection of West 7th Ave. and Sidehill Dr. in Sun Valley.
Upon arrival, deputies located two heavily damaged vehicles and multiple occupants. One of the vehicles was carrying five juveniles in one of the vehicles, ages 17, 9, 7, 4, and 3. The preliminary investigation revealed that the adult driver of that vehicle, identified as Eugenia Lafevere, 23-years-old, was impaired at the time of the crash.
Lafevere was arrested and booked on the following charges:
– Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
– Five counts of Child Endangerment
It was also determined that two of the youngest juveniles were not properly restrained at the time of the collision. All five children were transported to Renown Medical Center, where they were evaluated, treated for minor injuries, and subsequently released to a family member.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
This incident remains under active investigation.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office urges the community to never drive under the influence and to always ensure that children are properly restrained in age-appropriate safety seats or seatbelts. Impaired driving and improper child restraint put lives at serious risk and will be met with firm enforcement.
