May 15, 2025. Reno/Sparks, Nev. – Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH), through its Air Quality Management Division (AQMD), is seeking qualified individuals to become certified as independent Wood-burning Device Inspectors in the community.
As part of the continued efforts to improve regional air quality and ensure compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards under the Wood-burning Device Program, Certified Wood-burning Device Inspectors play a key role in evaluating wood-burning devices for certification, change-outs, and compliance with NNPH regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of EPA-certified wood-burning devices and emissions standards
- Ability to provide impartial and professional inspections
- Willingness to be listed as an approved inspector for the NNPH program on AQMD’s website
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting inspections of wood-burning devices for emissions compliance
- Completing and submitted standardized inspection reports
- Providing documentation to NNPH and homeowners or real estate professionals as required
