Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and SWAT Arrests Man for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Mar 26, 2025

Cold Springs, Nev. – On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Deputies responded to a residence in Cold Springs following reports of a disturbance between neighbors.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted a victim who reported being threatened by a neighbor with an axe. Deputies conducted a thorough investigation and determined there was probable cause that an assault with a deadly weapon occurred. The suspect was identified as Michael Comish.

Deputies attempted to contact Comish at his residence, but he refused to comply with commands to exit the home. WCSO Hostage Negotiation and SWAT teams were dispatched to the scene.

Despite multiple efforts by negotiators to encourage a peaceful surrender, Comish continued to ignore commands. With legal authority granted, the SWAT team entered the residence and took Comish into custody.

Comish was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the incident. Once medically cleared, he will be booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon

  • Unlawful Act with Bodily Fluid

  • Battery on a Peace Officer

  • FTA Warrant

Sheriff Darin Balaam expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and dedication displayed by deputies and specialized units who responded to the scene.
