On November 10, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a Washoe County Detention Facility inmate was transported to a local hospital to receive care for a medical issue. Hours after being admitted, the inmate’s condition escalated. Despite life-saving measures being administered by hospital staff, the inmate passed away that afternoon.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct their official death investigations, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will release the inmate’s name upon next of kin notification.
While this investigation is ongoing, there is no indication of self-harm, foul play, or criminal activity at this time.
