A Lemmon Valley man has been found guilty of all four charges, following a 2-day jury trial. Ernesto Guzman-Carapia (dob 11/17/86) was convicted of Assault Constituting Domestic Violence with a Deadly Weapon, False Imprisonment with the Use of a Deadly Weapon, Discharging a Firearm Within a Home, and Preventing 911.
Guzman-Carapia was arrested in June of this year after his ex-wife called 911 and reported that she had been assaulted by the defendant. The victim had gone to the defendant’s home to talk, and when she attempted to leave, Guzman-Carapia pointed a rifle at her and fired a round near where she was standing. Eventually she was able to leave the home and went to a local convenience store where she called police.
Sentencing is set for December 18th before the Honorable Judge Lynne Jones.
