Washoe County Sheriff's Office mourns the passing of retired K9 Kilo

Nov 10, 2020

A retired Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 passed away from medical complications Monday evening.

K9 Kilo, who retired in August of 2020, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020. His partner, Deputy Brian Harris, was by his side.

K9 Kilo was paired with Deputy Harris in 2013. K9 Kilo was trained in narcotics detection, subject apprehension, and tracking. K9 Kilo assisted numerous special teams and worked in several units, including Patrol and Narcotics. During his career K9 Kilo was deployed on thousands of calls, met tour groups at the Sheriff’s Office and regularly went to local businesses and schools to help educate the public about the Office and what we do.

Kilo was a true ambassador between the public and law enforcement. He will be sorely missed.
