Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives Arrest Lemmon Valley Homicide Suspect

On September 18, 2023, patrol deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a deceased person at a residence on Cameo Court in Reno.

When Deputies arrived on the scene, they found a male subject, later identified as Jeffrey Falkenstein, deceased on the living room floor of his residence.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

After an ongoing investigation, detectives identified Alex Hanson, the victim’s roommate, as the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives have determined that there are no outstanding suspects in this case, and results from the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Falkenstein’s death a homicide by strangulation.

Hanson is currently being held in the Washoe County Detention Facility for the charge of open murder with an elderly enhancement.
